Officials have confirmed that the airplane flown by Steve Fossett, as well as pieces of identifying personal property, have been found by hikers in the Mammoth Lakes area of California.
His body has been located.
Steve Fossett was missing since September 2007.
The Bellanca 8KCAB (N240R) was missing since September 3, 2007, when Fossett departed Yerington, Nevada for a local flight, according to the NTSB.
The Safety Board also said that the wreckage was located at about 10,000 feet of elevation in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the vicinity of Mammoth Lakes, California.
